Iris Apfel and Karlie Kloss star in Kate Spade’s spring campaign

The spring 2015 ad campaigns have been full of dynamic duos and ladies of older generations, but the print images that Kate Spade just released – starring 22-year-old Karlie Kloss and 93-year-old Iris Apfel are extraordinary.
Apfel, the fashion eccentric, shows off her quirky, colorful sense of style in the ads, pairing one of Spade’s pink handbags with green trousers, blue polka-dotted socks and a giant white bow. Kloss, who favors a more classic, all-American look, is elegantly dolled up in white. Each model’s aesthetic couldn’t be more different, but they look lovely and harmonious sitting on a park bench together.
Though Kate Spade recently announced big cages in business – its lower-priced offshoot Kate Spade Saturday and its menswear brand Jack Spade will be closing all of their stores in the coming months, this campaign casting was a smart move. With Kloss’s social media prowess (she boasts 1.9 million Instagram followers) and Apfel’s cult following within the industry, these ads will surely have people buzzing positively about the brand.
