The Spanish college-style brand teams up with interior designer Luis Galliussi to launch limited edition boxer shorts and makes its debut in Bordeaux, courtesy of Galeries Lafayette. Unity is strength, as the V-formation of geese in flight goes to prove. Now, college-style clothes, footwear and accessories brand El Ganso, which means goose in Spanish, is adopting the same approach in its business strategy. This autumn, it has looked to two very special fellow travellers. The first is interior designer Luis Galliussi, who has designed its new boxer-short collection. The second is department store Galeries Lafayette, which will boost its position in France.

‘Galliussi for El Ganso’ is a limited edition of underpants designed by Luis Galliussi, the New-York-based interior decorator and design icon. The partnership was a natural step after an association that goes back many years. “I’ve always wanted to do something for El Ganso.

But I wanted to do something fun that was totally my kind of thing. A bit the way they do. That’s why I went for these Galliumbos”, he says, combining a Spanish word for underwear with his own surname. “I used easy cotton fabrics, almost like shirt fabric, and combined my signature tape with El Ganso’s”. The collection includes eight different designs and is available from the e-shop, which delivers worldwide, as well as a selection of physical shops.

This is a new product line for a brand that went global back in 2011 and now operates from 116 points of sale in ten different markets. In 2014, it teamed up with Group Sordo Madaleno to grow in Mexico. This year it is partnering Galeries Lafayette in Bordeaux, where the new space in the department store at 12, Rue Porte Dijeaux will join its five existing shops in Paris.
