Nike Vision announces the latest offering in its performance line of sunglasses with the new Spring 2016 Running Collection – marking the new design direction for the future of the brand’s eyewear. Comprised of five new styles, the collection offers runners of all levels highly technical designs engineered for speed and comfort.

Nike Vision’s innovative new construction method seamlessly fuses the lens material with the frame to increase coverage and offer eyewear that is lighter than the average performance product on the market today. To bring this revolutionary collection to life, Nike Vision partnered with industry leader ZEISS to work outside the constraints of traditional eyewear manufacturing.

Nike + ZEISS partnership started from scratch to manufacture a new lens from a custom mold. Once developed, the mold was refined using ultra-precise machinery with diamond-polishing technology to polish the complex lens shape down to the nanometer. The end result is a lightweight, state-of-the-art lens that maximizes coverage and provides optimum clarity to allow athletes to perform at the highest level.

«To better serve our athletes, we looked to the future of sunglass design to incorporate new lens geometry and materials, as well as fit technology and design elements that haven’t been used in the performance eyewear industry before. We really wanted to elevate athletic performance by developing a better system of eyewear,» said Stephen Tripi, Marketing Director at Marchon Eyewear, Nike Vision’s licensee. «We started with a clean slate to create five new styles that provide options for every level of runner.»

The human eye has developed into one of the most complex and brilliant examples of natural design, and the new collection from Nike Vision ascends to a new level of optical clarity and performance to match this evolution. All styles include responsive comfort that grips when the athlete sweats, and flexible arms that conform to the shape of wearer’s face for personalized stability and fit. The eyewear features advanced ventilation with an auto-adjusting nose pad that eliminates fog. Each style also includes an expanded lens for increased coverage that acts as a barrier of protection and minimizes stress-causing lightleaks, allowing the runner’s eyes to stay relaxed and focused.
